I have installed quite a few shallow well pumps here in Idaho, and I will reveal precisely how most of us do this.Primarily i want to summarize what exactly i consider a shallow well. To begin with, a “shallow well” right here indicates that there is normally 25′ or less in between the well point and pump. To wash your well down:
Join up the point and pipe sections (teflon taped) as tightly as possible and wash all of them down a area at a time with a 10′ length of plastic PVC pipe attached to a water hose.

My grandmother Arvilla Orlene Scott Holst

We have been going through a lot of the old photographs we have from my father and grandmothers collection that was handed down to me upon my dads passing.  We found some interesting photos i thought some of you may be interested in seeing.  I have many more than what is here, if you are interested in seeing them let me know and we can go through them over dinner or something.

This is my Grandmother on my fathers side, her name was Arvilla Orlene Scott Holst she passed away on January 27, 1992 i was around 10 years old.  I remember my grandmother quite well and a few things really stood out to me about her.  She loved to sew and do things crafty.  I still have numerous toys that she made for me and my sister. She was extremely talented and we proudly have 3 or 4 of her wildlife paintings on our walls.  Arvilla also played a large role in the operations of the family automotive parts business Holst Truck Parts.  It is unfortunate that i was so young as a lot of my memories include the later years of her life which were complicated by cancer.  Luckily for me i have many good memories before things went down hill as i have cousins younger than me that were not so lucky.  My father lived with my grandmother during the latter years so i would often visit and we lived with her for a few years on the weekends.

I checked out the travel channels new site ihavethebug.com.  They have a small personality test that you take as you enter the site, i did notice that it is pretty broadband dependent but that doesnt phase me atleast.  The test was accurate i think,  although it was a tiny bit generic.

DIY Hydroponic Deep Water Culture bubbler business Idea

Me and the wife have been doing a lot more gardening lately and even i have started to enjoy it.  In this article i would like to go over an idea i had and will be implementing soon.  I am not looking for this to become a full time business more likely a weekend thing where we sell our systems at a farmers market or similar event like home and garden shows.  i feel confident i can  build a website that will look beautiful,  might use a similar theme as the last site i built,  ClearRelief.com.  After that it will be a matter of motivation and marketing.   i would be happy to make any money im enjoying it as a hobby alone at the moment.

IDEA:

To build and sell portable deep water culture hydroponic systems for the hobbyist.  The initial thought was to keep things simple on the first model.   The first model will be simple and cheap. I will need the following parts.

1.  1-5 gallon bucket depending on the room needed for roots(according to the plant grown) i was thinking that i could take regular discount 5 gallon buckets and apply a high quality paint job with my logo(vinyl or a sticker).

2.  Net pots- i have seen net pots that include a nice large rim,  meant to fit directly on top of a 3-5 gallon bucket.  This makes my system look much more professional if i use a solid black or green bucket(must be light tight for proper root growth)

3.  I will need to integrate a bubbler to add that all precious O2 to the system. I should be able to find a good way to attach a small bubbler to the bucket without making it look too unprofessional.

4. Air stones – I will need air stones that will be weighted enough to stay on bottom without floating up.

5. Nutrients – This brings up another opportunity to sell,  nutrients are necessary since the roots are submerged in water.

6. That also opens the doors to selling testing equipment for those who want to monitor their waters ph and nutrient levels.

7. Initially i will more than likely just signup for some affiliate programs to sell the applicable lighting.  Was thinking i could sell some of my own lighting fixtures as well.  i know where to get hps/mh/cfl lights for wholesale prices,  and i can get the ballasts and aluminum direct from their manufacturers.  i know a few good metal fabricating companies online that will fabricate hoods and lighting fixtures.

Marketing and Promotion:

1. I thought i could initially start by setting up a website such as Bubblegrow.com or something catchy like that.  get branded then try to sell them to local garden shops as well.  There are already numerous sites selling these on ebay and the net,  but it is something i think i could easily sell locally, there are no hydroponic stores nearby and the simple setup could make the profits much more substantial.

2. Farmers Market – I figured i could purchase some tomatoes from a garden center break them down take some cuttings clean the soil from the roots and transplant them into the DWC systems so there are live tomatoes growing in a few systems for show purposes.  i can get some vinyl signs done up for a tent and a booth there.

This opens up the possibilities of also selling similar portable systems such as EBB, Flow, and fogger setups.

Plants are able to take in the water and nutrients much better when they have been atomized by a nebulizer.  I have found a place to purchase nebulizers(replacement nebulizer parts work very well just type fogger into ebay and youll find a few examples.).

Clearrelief.com – Menastil (project website)

This is a project i have been working on now for a few weeks,  it is coming along nicely.  The product is called menastil,  and both myself and my wife have used it and love it so we agreed to help the friend with the website.   If you know me call me and ill see if i can get you a cheaper sample or possibly free.

I used wordpress for the site, i did the graphics and i used the general layout of a template calld overeasy for the featured slider.  I used E-junkie as the shopping cart.  I had the seller signup for both google checkout and paypal pro.

The project is going nicely and is getting traffic steadily now.

250,000 Identities in the UK stolen

I don’t necessarily think that i am some super genius but i do know how easy it would be to turn to crime and become quite profitable, thank god i was raised properly and am able to fight those urges haha.  Sometimes its just too easy.  Like this story out of the UK that talks about the identities of 4 million United Kingdom citizen identities,  this includes everything from social security numbers, telephone numbers, addresses, bank info etc..

Almost 250,000 bank accounts, with credit card details and account information was hacked into by cyberthieves,  this exposes everyone to economic issues.  This is nothing new criminals have been using phishing and other4 hacking techniques to steal your info for quite a few years now.

the victims willingly hand over sensitive information through e-mail and other means like instant messaging to criminals posing as banks or online retailers.  I understand all to well how easy it is to use a little social engineering to gain access to information.  As long as the person on the other end of the phone believes  you are in, Another popular means of infection is via file downloads,  there are many more file sharing sites than ever and more than ever they are infected with Adware, Spyware, Trojans and malware,  all bent on taking something from you without you knowing, weather its simple tracking information or the log in information to your bank account that you have unwittingly save in your internet explorer settings.

Criminals use different means of selling their loot, There are forums on the internet(yes i have seen them) that exist for the soul purpose of selling peoples identities,  they usually exist within hacking communities, hidden away from normal users, people are invited to join in after they have participated in the community for a trial period.  they approach you not the other way around.  there are a few sites out there that blatantly just sell info,  they are usually run by Chinese or other hackers.

I have seen sites that will even break things down into categories such as police, or ceo’s and the details can become wuite expensive, and in these times i would think dangerous as well.  It has taken him four years to collect all of the information.  His sources include the following

To give you an idea of the scope on this issue,  take a look at retired senior Metropolitan police officer Colin Holder, he has managed to compile a database of these sites and transactions that would scare the hell out of anyone who saw it.  This jerk actually wants to start selling access to the list.  Instead of helping his fellow countrymen by releasing the names of individuals who have been compromised he is going to sell access to people who want to check.  Apparently it is in court right now and they are deciding on wether or not it is legal to do this.  Personaly if he has taken the time to collate the info its fine with me as long as the info is in the public domain for all of his sources.

three useful linux commands

In order to make this article span the course of all Linux distributions its important that i give you the most useful commands i know from the command line,  and yes i know there are many shells,  we will just have to

grep in use

hope you are using one that accepts these commands.

Here are just a few of the commands i use often.

#1 top

This command will help you list all of your currently running processes running in memory.  Great tool to kleep open at all times to monitor your sytems memory footprint at all times.

All data is in real time which helps you to identify possible issues and threats immediately.

#2 ln

Links can be4 very useful,  for example a company i worked with stored thousands of images in large folders,  when users had to go into the folder a few levels the traffic is emmense over time.  links allow people to place link files within specific user directories to allow people the ability to go directly to the folders they want.

#3 grep

Grep is basicly a search tool,  but an extremely powerful one. Dont overlook this amazing tool. Say you have a giant document and you want to find a specific name in that document.  Lets say you are looking at an text file that’s more than 10000 lines long you are searching for “John Conner” entry. You could spend an hour flipping through the file never to find it,  or you could simply use Grep.

grep -n “john conner” /john/conner/textfile

Grep becomes even more powerfule when coupled with the pipe command.  Say you want to print your currently running processes.  you might use the command: ps aux|grep searchstring(any process you might want to target leave blank for everything)

How to request an FBI file

The FBI has records on millions of americans dead and alive.   Trying to find someone?  Or trying to get information on someone who has passed for genealogical reasons an FBI record can be quite helpful.  I personally think everyone should get their record,  you know what you’ve done,  but you never know whats going to be on your record,  identities are stolen all the time,  and you may have a record a mile long, and are wanted in Virginia for prostitution.  Dont laugh people it happens every day,  criminals have no problem using your identity.

It used to be quite the pain in the but to get your hands on an FBI file,  these days the process still might not be friendly but atleast getting your hands on the needed paperwork inst too bad.
